Our flagship operation since 1995 has been the GABL Youth Sports Foundation, Inc. (GABL) a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation in the Kansas City area. Founded in 1974, the corporation originally operated under the name Great American Basketball League. In 2009, the Board of Directors changed the structure and name of the organization to allow for a broader outreach of its programs and a more integrated approach to fundraising. The Foundation currently has three significant program initiatives: the Great American Basketball League, the GABL Academy and the GABL Future Program. Its programs serve over 8,000 participants annually.
Our role in working with the Foundation has been to provide a full-range of management services, to include all the servcies we offer--general management; administration and finance; office services; communications; corporate marketing and resource development; program and event operation, and merchandise services. For over 24 years, our staff has been the GABL staff, helping to make it a premier youth sports organization in Kansas City.

Kansas City Football and Cheerleading Club (KCFC), formerly the Football and Cheerleading Club of Johnson County, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded over 35 years ago, is the largest youth football and cheerleading program in Kansas. KCFC is governed by volunteer leadership groups that oversee programs for over 3,500 youth in grades K thru 8th in Johnson County (KS) and surrounding areas in metropolitan Kansas City. SMA began its involvement in 2005 when we were contracted to improve the operation of the KCFC office, finances and its programs and events; develop a corporate partner program; manage the scheduling and training of officials, and assist with overall general management and leadership issues.
KCFC operates programs and events year-round, with its core programs of tackle and flag football leagues, as well as cheer activities, conducted during the traditional fall season. A 10-field complex in southern Johnson County is leased from the county park district where nearly all its programs and events are held. The facility is operated by KCFC and includes four lighted fields, multiple concession stands and special fields for K-3rd grade games. Over 75,000 people attend games at the facility in the fall and spring seasons.
Since SMA’s involvement began in 2005, a number of new programs have been developed, including the KCFC Football Academy to help players improve their skills, a merchandise and corporate marketing initiatives to create new revenue for KCFC, the flag program was expanded to provide opportunities for all ages (K-8) to participate, and, within the last several years, a plan was implemented that allowed nearly 25 new tackle teams from the KC Northland area to participate in the KCFC fall league.
